How to save Pinterest recipes to a recipe app

Pinterest is great for finding recipes and not so great for cooking them. Save the ones you actually want to make into My Recipe Pad, where they're organized, searchable and ready to cook.

Pins are bookmarks, not recipes

A recipe pin is usually a nice photo with a link to a food blog. When it's time to cook, you tap through, wait for the page to load and scroll past ads to find the ingredients. Boards fill up quickly, and the recipe you want is always somewhere near the bottom.

Saving the recipe itself into a recipe app fixes that.

Save a recipe from Pinterest

  1. Open the pin in the Pinterest app or in Safari and tap Share.
  2. Choose My Recipe Pad in the share sheet. The import starts right away.
  3. Check the recipe and save it to your library.

If the pin leads to a recipe website, you can also open the website and share that page instead. My Recipe Pad imports recipes from practically any recipe site, in practically any language.

Tip: You can also copy the link, open My Recipe Pad, tap + in the Recipes tab, choose Import recipe and paste it.

Turn your boards into a cookbook you'll use

Once your favorite pins are saved as recipes, they work like the rest of your cookbook:

  • Folders for weeknight dinners, baking, holidays or anything else.
  • Search by ingredient when you have half a bag of spinach to use up.
  • Plan the week with them and send the ingredients to your grocery list.
  • Share them in a library your family can cook from too.

Questions

What's the difference between a pin and the recipe?
Most recipe pins are a picture that links to a recipe on a website. My Recipe Pad imports the recipe itself, with its ingredients and steps, so you don't need the pin anymore.
Can I save recipes from my existing Pinterest boards?
Yes, one at a time. Open a pin from your board and share it, or its recipe page, to My Recipe Pad.
